Whistle while THEY work!

Never underestimate the value of indirect or ambient attention. Here, a young blue and gold macaw perched on a swing mounted from the ceiling, watches me work in the garage. For the bird who never seems to get "enough" attention, indirect attention is often the answer. Young macaws especially--though they may not be cuddle bugs like the cockatoos--like to feel like they're part of things. Often, just being in the room with you while you work, read, or watch TV, counts as quality time.
