Blaze, all partied out . . .

With a preference to preening over partying, Blaze will never be bred; I am sure it would be the end of her, as it too often is with birds, especially cockatoos, that don’t tune in to breeding mode and are maimed or killed by their mates. HOWEVER, Blaze is a fabulous, sweet pet, and I am so glad the breeder recognized her “shortcomings” before it was too late. One must always be careful when allowing birds to be together, even just as buddies, so as not to put one or the other in danger. I have several buddy pairs. In my experience, pairing buddies works best when both birds are of essentially similar temperament. And, while pairing can be a bit tricky, cohabitation in the same cage is most definitely something that takes time and requires careful monitoring. Just like people, birds seem to get along best when they are on the same wavelength.
